Job summary

ABB Smart Power in Quartino, Switzerland, seeks a General Manager to lead the manufacturing facility and own Profit & Loss. You will oversee Production, Engineering, Planning & Fulfillment, Quality, Logistics, Service and HR, reporting to the Business Line Leader - Critical Power.

The role requires 10–15 years in operations, a relevant degree, strong leadership, English fluency and Italian language skills, plus SAP experience and vendor management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's/Master’s degree in Engineering or Business studies.
• 10–15 years of experience in operations/manufacturing.
• Experience handling factory operations, production planning, SAP exposure, workforce management and vendor management.
• Demonstrated leadership with English; Italian language skills preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead overall operations of ABB's Critical Power manufacturing facility in Quartino, including production, engineering, planning, fulfillment, quality, logistics, service and HR.
• Deliver 4C targets: safety, quality, delivery, inventory, productivity.
• Ensure on-time and on-margin project execution and deliver EBIT and cash.
• Drive continuous improvement of business processes and customer satisfaction within scope.
• Build a high-performing organization and allocate resources effectively.

Your Role And Responsibilities

Join us as General Manager where you will be responsible for the overall operations of ABB’s Critical Power manufacturing facility based in Quartino, Switzerland. In your role you will be accountable for Profit & Loss and oversee the full scope of Production, Engineering, Planning & Fulfillment, Quality & Operational Excellence, Logistics, Service and HR.

The work model for the role is: #onsite Quartino Plan, CH.

This role is contributing to the Smart Power division in Quartino, CH.

You will be mainly accountable for:

• Executing a customer focused operations strategy derived from the overall business and functional strategy developed for the business unit.
• Being accountable to deliver 4C targets for Operations: Safety, Quality, Delivery, Inventory, Productivity.
• Being responsible for on-time/on-margin project execution and to deliver project EBIT and cash.
• Owning the development and the continuous improvement of business processes and procedures, and of the overall customer satisfaction for area under scope
• Driving service achievements through effective planning and allocation of resources in accordance with standard processes, procedures and safety guidelines.
• Building an effective, capable, and high-performing organization.

Qualifications for the role:

• Bachelor's/Master’s degree in Engineering or Business studies.
• Minimum 10 - 15 years of experience in operations / manufacturing.
• Experience of handling factory operations, productions, production planning, SAP exposure, managing work force and vendor management.
• Demonstrated leadership capabilities, with a collaborative, solution-focused approach, negotiation skills and exceptional written and spoken communication skills in English.
• Knowledge on Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) and business compliance standards and regulations within the units.
• Italian language skills — advanced level preferred; ability to work effectively with Italian-speaking colleagues.

We are ideally looking for a candidate based in Switzerland. For the right individual, we are open to relocation support. We also encourage applications from cross-border commuters (frontalieri) living in Italy and working in Switzerland, commuting on a daily basis.
