Job summary

Mercury is seeking an experienced Commissioning Manager to lead on-site commissioning for large-scale industrial projects in Zurich, Switzerland. The role requires overseeing commissioning plans, directing testing staff, and coordinating with clients and contractors to deliver projects on time.

The ideal candidate holds an engineering degree with 5+ years in commissioning management, particularly in mechanical and electrical systems for data centres.

Qualifications

• Degree in Engineering and at least 5 years’ experience in a commissioning manager role on large scale industrial projects.
• Extensive commissioning knowledge of the typical mechanical and electrical systems in data centres.
• Strong understanding of building regulations and European standards, codes and practices.
• Experience in managing IST documentation and completing IST-related deliverables digitally.
• Excellent organisational skills and ability to prioritise tasks to meet deadlines and budgets.
• Excellent communication skills at all levels and the ability to report to management and client.

Responsibilities

• Manage all commissioning on site, including setup, execution and close-out of commissioning plans.
• Lead and mentor commissioning and testing personnel on site.
• Chair weekly commissioning meetings and coordinate progress reporting.
• Develop the project commissioning schedule with planners.
• Manage tagging, lockout-tagout processes and area control permits.
• Ensure all testing and commissioning documentation is compiled and signed off.
• Oversee cost management for electrical, mechanical and subcontractor packages.
• Coordinate with client, vendors and other trades to ensure timely commissioning and snag closure.
