Job summary

CERN is seeking a Software Engineer to operate and evolve the EOS storage platform used for LHC data. You will work within the EOS Storage Development and Operations team to deliver scalable, reliable storage services and automation.

The role focuses on Linux, networking, and storage technologies, with emphasis on performance, observability and collaboration across developers and service managers. Onsite work required with 40 hours weekly.

Qualifications

• Experience with Linux, networking and storage technologies.
• Interest in distributed storage systems and large-scale scientific computing.
• Understanding replication, fault tolerance, caching, scheduling and data consistency.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain EOS large-scale distributed storage services.
• Integrate, troubleshoot and optimise distributed storage systems across software, hardware and network layers.
• Contribute to development, testing, deployment and automation of EOS platform capabilities and tools.
• Liaise with users, developers, service managers and collaborators to evolve CERN storage services.
