Job summary

Avaloq is offering a nine-month internship in Corporate Actions & Income Processing in Switzerland. You will work within a global Banking Operations team to learn how corporate actions are processed, from MT564/MT568 messages to client communications.

You will gain hands-on experience in event setup, notifications, and handling client inquiries, under guidance from experienced staff across Germany, Switzerland and Singapore.

Banking Operations is a strategic Avaloq service line providing Banking Operations outsourcing services to banks. We are organized as a global business area, running state-of-the art Backoffice services with industry leading automation, quality, and risk standards. We are experts in providing a true value add to our clients and thus, always look to add creative and client-oriented personalities with drive and passion to our team.

You will be part of a global department located in 3 different countries (Germany, Switzerland and Singapore) responsible for managing Corporate Action business/processes (announcements, Instructions and Payments).

Your key tasks

During the internship period, you will be able to assist and learn the following activities, with the support of senior Banking Operations staff, shadowing their work and having the opportunity to provide your inputs and contribution.

• Analysis of Custodian’s MT564/568 swift messages. Introductory analysis of MT564 and MT568 SWIFT messages received from custodians, focusing on identifying key elements and understanding their role in corporate actions processing
• Set-up of Corporate Actions events. Guided support in the set up of standard and low-risk CA event types and understand the risks involved and potential consequences. This is limited to basic scenarios and following predefined procedures
• Notifications in various languages to end-clients of the banks for elective corporate actions events.Assistance in drafting notifications to end-clients of the banks, based on templates and under staff review
• Resolution of client’s inquiries. Observation and supervised handling of client inquiries, with the aim of learning how resolution processes are structured and managed by experienced staff

Qualifications

• Economics studies, preferably at university level and with a focus in Finance
• Proactive approach towards a highly challenging, fast-paced and complex environment
• Good communication and organization skills
• Good team player and positive attitude
• Flexibility and willingness to learn

  • Know-how in the Corporate Actions area (even if only theoretical) is considered as a strong plus
  • Knowledge of additional languages (German or French preferably)
