Job summary

World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) invites applications for an Associate Legal Officer in the Office of the Legal Counsel, Geneva. The role focuses on legal research, analysis, and drafting across public international law, administrative law, and treaty issues to support WIPO's operations.

Qualifications

• Three years of relevant professional experience including legal research and drafting.
• Experience in public international law, treaty law, or administrative law.
• Experience in an international organization or legal office.

Responsibilities

• Conduct legal research and analysis across public international law, treaty law, administrative law and contract law.
• Assist with depository functions of international treaties and agreements; prepare treaty-action notifications and maintain records.
• Review requests for observer status; prepare documents for admission of new observers.
• Support interpretation and application of Staff Regulations and Rules; assist in dispute resolution.
• Assist in pleadings for submission to the WIPO Appeal Board and ILO Administrative Tribunal.
• Support annual reporting on administration of justice within WIPO.
• Review and clearance of agreements and MOUs with partners and other entities.
• Provide legal advice on IT, data governance, procurement, and financial matters to ensure regulatory compliance.
