Job summary

World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in Geneva, Switzerland, invites applications for the Associate Legal Officer role. Qualifications

• First-level university degree in law.
• Advanced university degree (master’s degree or equivalent) in law, preferably with a specialization in public international law, administrative law, or commercial law.

Responsibilities

• Conduct legal research and analysis to support the three Sections in public international law, treaty law, administrative law and contract law.
• Assist with depository functions of international treaties and agreements, including notifications and record maintenance.
• Assist with review for observer status requests and preparation of documents for admission of new observers.
• Contribute to interpretation and application of Staff Regulations and Rules in disputes.
• Assist in preparing pleadings for the WIPO Appeal Board and the ILO Administrative Tribunal.
• Support annual reporting on matters pertaining to WIPO’s administration of justice system.
• Review and clearance of agreements and partnership arrangements with governments, intergovernmental and non-governmental entities.
• Provide legal advice on IT, digital transformation, data governance, procurement, property management and financial matters.
• Perform other tasks within the unit’s competence as required.
