Job summary

WIPO is seeking a Senior Legal Officer (Grade P-4) in Geneva, Switzerland, to provide lifecycle procurement legal advice on complex IT/Cloud/AI-related contracts and strategic procurement support. The role also involves offering high-level legal guidance on interpreting and applying WIPO rules and regulations to office policy and instructions.

The position requires engagement in negotiations with suppliers and close collaboration with sector leadership to ensure compliant, effective contracting

Qualifications

• Lifecycle procurement legal advice on drafting, negotiating, and concluding complex commercial agreements (contracts, Long Term Agreements, SLAs, MoUs, settlements) with IT/Cloud/AI tech focus.
• Provide high-level legal guidance on interpreting and applying WIPO rules and regulations to policy and office instructions.

Responsibilities

• Commercial Contracting and Strategic Procurement Support: provide lifecycle procurement legal advice on drafting, negotiating, and concluding complex commercial agreements with a focus on IT/Cloud/AI technologies, construction, and campus facility management; engage in supplier negotiations as needed.
• High-Level Legal Advice and Policy Guidance: advise Sector leadership and the Director of CSD on interpreting, applying, and updating WIPO’s rules and regulations, Office Instructions and other administrative issuances.

Principal Duties

• Commercial Contracting and Strategic Procurement Support: Provide lifecycle procurement legal advice on drafting, negotiating, and concluding complex commercial agreements (contracts, Long Term Agreements, SLAs, MoUs, settlements) with particular focus on IT/Cloud/AI technologies, construction, and campus facility management. Engage directly in negotiations with suppliers whenever needed.
• High-Level Legal Advice and Policy Guidance: Advise Sector leadership, the Director of CSD, and the HLOP on interpreting, applying, and updating WIPO’s rules and regulations, Office Instructions and other administrative issuances from the Division.
