Job purpose:

This internship provides an opportunity to gain practical experience within UNCTAD's Investment Issues and Analysis Section. The intern will support research on global investment trends, multinational enterprises, and sustainable development, contributing to UNCTAD's mandate. The role involves data analysis, event support, and content preparation, offering exposure to the three pillars of UNCTAD's work. Responsibilities:

The intern will assist in collecting and analyzing data on investment, multinational enterprises, and private equity/venture capital. Responsibilities include supporting research on green FDI, sustainable development (gender, tourism, climate change), and investment in the digital economy. The role also involves assisting in the organization of events like the World Investment Forum 2026 and COP31-related activities, preparing briefing materials, and contributing to articles and reports. The intern will attend meetings, assist with reporting, and undertake other requested tasks, adhering to UN regulations and confidentiality.

Education:

Applicants must be enrolled in or have completed a graduate program (second university degree or higher) or be in the final year of a first university degree program (bachelor's level or equivalent). Proficiency in standard software applications is required. A keen interest in the UN's work and the ability to interact across cultures are essential.

Work experience:

No professional work experience is required for this internship. However, a field of study closely related to investment, trade, or development is necessary. Applicants must meet the specified educational criteria.

Skills:

Computer literacy in standard software applications, strong interest in the UN's work, commitment to UN ideals, ability to interact with diverse cultural backgrounds, willingness to understand different opinions, fluency in English (written and spoken). Knowledge of another official UN language is an asset.
