Job summary

Stiftung für die Inter-Community School in Zumikon, near Zurich, invites applications for a Secondary IB German Language & Literature Teacher (m/w/d) at 100% starting 01.08.2027. You will teach across the Secondary School with emphasis on the IB Diploma Programme (DP) for grades 11 and 12, and may teach German Language Acquisition.

Qualifications

• Degree in German or Literature with a recognised teaching qualification.
• Proven experience teaching German Language & Literature at Secondary level.
• Experience with IB Diploma Programme and/or MYP preferred.
• Excellent English communication skills.
• Minimum 4 years of recent and relevant Secondary School teaching experience.
• International school experience is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Teach German Language & Literature within the IB framework, particularly DP courses.
• Prepare students for Internal Assessments and IB examinations.
• Design engaging, differentiated units centred on literature, language and critical thinking.
• Assess, track and report student progress in line with IB and ICS expectations.
• Support students’ social and emotional wellbeing as a teacher and tutor.
• Collaborate within the Language & Literature Department and wider Senior School team.
• Contribute to interdisciplinary learning, co-curricular activities and school life.
• Potentially teach German Language Acquisition classes.
• Tutor (homeroom) expectations may be part of this role.
• Use technology meaningfully to enhance teaching and learning.
