Job summary

ABB Smart Power in Quartino, Switzerland, is seeking an R&D Engineer to lead validation and customization of OEM 1ph and 3ph low-voltage UPS units, batteries and accessories. You will work in a hybrid environment and coordinate test programs with external labs to demonstrate IEC or UL compliance.

Responsibilities include managing product specifications, supporting the Product Manager in business-case development, driving root-cause analysis, and exploring new UPS technologies in collaboration

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering required; Master’s preferred.
• 2+ years of professional electrical engineering experience.
• Experience with power electronics in a lab setting.
• Knowledge of IEC and UL standards and certification processes.
• Experience working with external laboratories and certification bodies.
• Experience with failure investigations and RCA.
• Familiarity with ECNs, BOMs and documentation systems.
• English fluent in speaking and writing.

Responsibilities

• Lead validation and customization of OEM 1ph and 3ph low-voltage UPS, batteries and accessories.
• Coordinate test programs with external labs to demonstrate IEC/UL compliance.
• Manage technical specifications and support business-case development for product initiatives.
• Drive root-cause analysis and corrective actions from qualification testing and customer sites.
• Maintain awareness of state-of-the-art UPS technologies and collaborate with ABB's research center and stakeholders.
