Job summary
ETH Zurich's Swiss National Supercomputing Centre (CSCS) invites applications for a Storage Engineer to design, implement, and maintain HPC storage services in a multi-tenant environment. Based in Lugano, you will contribute to scalable storage solutions used by researchers in climate and Earth observation projects.
You will collaborate with partners such as ETHZ Geolab, C2SM, ECMWF, NASA, and NOAA, leveraging Linux mastery, S3 object storage concepts, and CI/CD automation to advance HPC
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or higher degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong Linux system administration skills.
- Filesystem aspects and functions (data, metadata, block size, etc.).
- Storage redundancy technologies (RAID, D-RAID, EC).
- Backup concepts and solutions (DMF, TSM, Veeam).
- Object Storage concepts and S3 usage/implementation.
- Automation tools and CI/CD processes (GitLab CI, HashiCorp Vault).
- Excellent English; good Italian.
Responsibilities
- Implement and operate HPC storage services in a multi-tenant infrastructure.
- Contribute to designing, implementing, maintaining, and documenting storage services for HPC.
- Impact HPC system development and efficiency through storage enhancements.
