Job summary
CSCS in Lugano seeks a Storage Engineer (Systems Engineering) to design, implement and operate HPC storage services in a multi-tenant infrastructure, contributing to scalable storage for climate and earth observation data projects.
You will work with Linux administration, filesystem concepts, and storage technologies, with opportunities to learn Ceph, GPFS/Lustre, Ansible and Kubernetes, under a two-year contract with flexible, family‑friendly conditions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or higher degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong Linux administration skills.
- Understanding of filesystem concepts and block sizes.
- Knowledge of storage redundancy technologies (RAID, D‑RAID, EC).
- Experience with backups (DMF, TSM, Veeam).
- Experience with object storage and S3.
- Automation experience with CI/CD and GitLab CI, Vault.
Responsibilities
- Implement and operate HPC storage services in a multi-tenant infrastructure.
- Design, implement, maintain and document storage services for HPC.
- Contribute to development and enhancement of HPC systems.
- Support ongoing operations and improve storage reliability and performance.
