Job summary

CSCS is seeking a Storage Engineer to join the Lugano team. The role focuses on implementing and operating HPC storage services in a multi-tenant infrastructure, contributing to design, maintenance, and documentation of storage systems for HPC.

The candidate will engage in building scalable storage solutions, enable scientists with climate and Earth observation data projects, and collaborate with international partners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or higher degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field.
• Sound knowledge of filesystem concepts (data/metadata, block size, etc.).
• Backup solutions concepts and tools (DMF, TSM, Veeam).
• Object Storage concepts and S3 usage/implementation.
• Automation tools and CI/CD ecosystems (GitLab CI, Vault).
• Experience with parallel file systems (GPFS, Lustre).
• Experience with Ceph storage clusters.
• Experience with versioning CI/CD workflows such as ArgoCD.
• Experience with OpenCHAMI, MAAS, or Foreman for physical server automation.
• Experience with Ansible configurations.
• Experience developing services on Kubernetes.
