Qualifikationen

• Strong expertise in Linux systems administration within production or research‑computing environments.
• Experience with automation and DevOps practices, including configuration management tools such as Ansible or Puppet, scripting in Bash and Python, Git‑based workflows, and preferably CI/CD and infrastructure‑as‑code concepts.
• Experience with monitoring, troubleshooting, and debugging complex system and software issues in production environments.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Familiarity with batch systems, distributed computing infrastructure, container technologies, or high‑throughput computing environments is advantageous.
• Familiarity with WLCG infrastructure and services or scientific computing environments is a plus

Aufgaben

• Serve as the main systems engineer for PSI’s WLCG Tier‑3 cluster computing infrastructure supporting the CERN CMS experiment.
• Operate, maintain, and improve Linux‑based research‑computing services and infrastructure.
• Support and interact with the Swiss CMS computing user community using the Tier‑3 infrastructure.
• Collaborate with the national WLCG Tier‑2 center operated by CSCS.
• Contribute to the shared operational responsibilities and mutual backup within our HPC/HTC services for PSI.
• Contribute to the planning and evolution of future Tier‑3 and Tier‑2 infrastructure and services in preparation for the HL‑LHC era
