Stax, a leading Deep Tech headhunting firm, is partnering with an exciting and rapidly growing robotics startup in Zurich. Backed by premier European deep tech investors, our client is at the forefront of integrating advanced AI into robotic solutions for the construction sector. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Head of Hardware Engineering to lead their talented team of 5 engineers and drive their technological vision forward.

The Opportunity:

As the Head of Hardware Engineering, you will be pivotal in shaping and executing the hardware strategy for our client's next-generation robotic systems. You will lead and mentor the existing hardware team, fostering innovation and ensuring the successful development and deployment of robust and reliable robotic platforms that are changing how the world builds.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership and technical direction to the hardware engineering team.
  • Own the complete hardware development lifecycle, from initial concept through to successful deployment.
  • Champion innovation in the design, prototyping, rigorous testing, and thorough validation of robotic systems.
  • Forge strong collaborations with the AI and software teams to achieve seamless hardware-software integration.
  • Effectively manage budget, project timelines, and efficient resource allocation for all hardware initiatives.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and manufacturing partners.
  • Lead the recruitment, mentorship, and professional development of the hardware engineering team.
  • Ensure strict adherence to all relevant safety standards and regulatory requirements.

What Our Client is Looking For:

  • A strong academic background with a degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, or a related discipline (Master's or PhD preferred).
  • Extensive experience (8+ years) in hardware engineering, with significant involvement in the development of sophisticated robotic systems.
  • Proven leadership capabilities, with a demonstrable track record of successfully leading and developing engineering teams.
  • A deep understanding of mechatronics, embedded systems, sensors, actuators, and power systems.
  • Practical experience with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Fusion 360) and relevant simulation tools.
  • Familiarity with various manufacturing processes and supply chain dynamics.
  • Exceptional problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal abilities.
  • A genuine passion for the fields of robotics, artificial intelligence, and technological innovation.
  • Professional fluency in English (knowledge of German would be advantageous).
