Andermatt Swiss Alps AG is seeking an experienced Director of Engineering for a luxury hotel project in Switzerland. The role leads technical teams, oversees MEP systems, and drives pre-opening testing and commissioning.

You will manage budgets, ensure safety compliance, and implement CAFM and preventive maintenance while coaching a high-caliber engineering team. You should have a federal diploma or degree in building services or mechanical/electrical engineering, plus significant hotel

• Swiss codes/standards knowledge (VKF/AEAI, SIA, SUVA) a plus.
• Experience as Director of Engineering in upscale hotels is required.

• Acting as the operator’s technical representative towards the developer, architects and contractors
• Leading testing, commissioning and acceptance of all technical systems
• Managing snagging and defect lists through to close-out
• Securing complete as-built drawings, O&M manuals and warranty documents
• Developing the technical critical path, opening checklists and soft-opening tests
• Building, recruiting and training the engineering team, including on-call duty
• Implementing the CAFM system, preventive maintenance and SOPs
• Ensuring compliance with all legal and authority requirements for fire protection, health and safety and hygiene
• Optimising energy and water consumption and supporting ESG reporting
• Taking responsibility for budgets (OPEX and CAPEX), service contracts and external partners

What you bring in

• Federal diploma or degree in building services, mechanical or electrical engineering, or Leiter/in Facility Management mit eidg. Diplom
• Vocational apprenticeship (EFZ) in a technical trade as foundation
• At least 8 years of experience in technical roles, including at least 3 years as Director of Engineering in upscale or luxury hotels
• At least one full hotel pre-opening or major renovation from construction to opening
• In-depth expertise in MEP, building automation and fire safety
• Knowledge of Swiss building codes and standards (VKF/AEAI, SIA, SUVA) and of alpine properties an advantage
• Hands‑on, solution‑oriented leadership and composure under pressure
• Flexibility, on‑call availability and a driving licence
• Swiss work permit or EU/EFTA citizenship
• Fluent German and English, Italian or French an advantage
