We are looking for a Hardware Lab Manager [40-100%] with experience in hardware development and an interest in field work.

Our story

At irmos technologies, we are on a mission to maximize the safe operational life of existing buildings and bridges. We fundamentally improve the status quo in structural analysis and maintenance planning by combining sensor data with intelligent algorithms. We are a dynamic team of innovative engineers with extensive expertise in structural assessment, structural health monitoring, data science, and software development. We envision safer and more sustainable infrastructure for everybody, and for this, we need to clearly communicate infrastructure health metrics to various stakeholders.

Join us as a Hardware Lab Manager

Be a part of reshaping structural maintenance through innovative data-driven solutions. Your expertise will drive data-driven structural assessment and contribute to the evolution of irmos technologies in our dynamic startup environment.

What you will do
  1. As a Hardware Lab Manager, you will play a key role in preparing and deploying advanced sensor and data acquisition systems for real-world monitoring applications in buildings, bridges, and other infrastructure. Your responsibilities will include:
  2. Assemble, test, and integrate hardware systems in the lab, ensuring readiness for field deployment.
  3. Coordinate and manage hardware logistics, including ordering components and managing inventory to ensure timely execution.
  4. Lead on-site coordination during sensor installations, working directly with installation partners.
  5. Contribute to system design by providing hands-on support and feedback during prototyping and field trials.
  6. Benchmark and test new designs as part of our development cycles.
  7. Document assembly procedures and test results, including maintaining up-to-date technical documentation and test code.
What you will bring
  • 2+ years of relevant professional experience, ideally in sensor systems, hardware integration, or field instrumentation.
  • Familiarity with measurement technologies, data acquisition systems, and sensors.
  • Hands-on experience in hardware assembly (e.g., soldering, wiring, sensor mounting).
  • Strong organizational skills to manage hardware logistics and coordinate with external partners.
  • Completed Bachelor’s or Master’s in civil engineering, geotechnical engineering, earth sciences, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field.
  • Basic programming experience (C / C++ / Python) for hardware interfacing and test automation is a plus.
  • Interest in working on-site and in lab environments to bridge the gap between development and deployment.
You are
  • Motivated to join a dynamic, high-performance, and exciting start-up environment.
  • Passionate about technical excellence and delivering innovative, complete solutions for industry-first products that set new standards in the construction industry.
  • Independent, with meticulous attention to detail, and strong organizational skills.
  • A collaborative team player who thrives in a dynamic and inclusive work environment.
  • Proficient in German and English (written and verbal).
What we offer
  • Experience the thrill of delivering pioneering technology that changes lives and builds a safer, more sustainable future.
  • Take advantage of unique opportunities for professional development by participating in workshops, seminars, and networking events.
  • Manage your own time and maximize your day with our flexible working environment.
  • Enjoy the benefits of being part of an ETH Spin-off, including reduced membership for the Academic Sport Club of ETH (ASVZ).

Your role in our startup journey will have a significant impact on the evolution of irmos technologies!
