Job summary

Syngenta AG in Basel seeks a Global Technical Manager (f/m/d) for Product Biology Disease Control (Fungicides). You will design and implement technical development strategies, lead global field trials, and partner with R&D, Marketing, and regions to deliver market-competitive products and customer value.

The role requires MSc/PhD in agronomy, multi-regional experience, and fluency in English. Expect international travel and cross-functional collaboration in a dynamic, international environment.

Qualifications

• MSc or Ph.D in agronomy is required.
• Broad knowledge of agribusiness and new technologies in crop protection.
• Experience across global markets and multiple regions.
• 5+ years delivering development projects in country and region.
• 5+ years of local market experience in agronomy and disease control.
• In-depth knowledge of technical profiles, properties and positioning of Syngenta and competitor products.
• Experience with R&D activities, primarily in Development, and familiarity with fungicides.
• Recognized technical expertise related to disease control, with field trial experience.
• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, integrity and communication in a multicultural environment.
• Ability to connect insights from multiple trials to evidence-based recommendations.
• Experience in data analysis and visualization techniques for non-technical audiences.
• Openness to AI and digital tools; knowledge management.
• Ability to transfer global strategies to local approaches.
• Strong collaboration and influencing skills across functions.
• Willingness to travel internationally.
• Fluent written and spoken English.

Responsibilities

• Lead global technical development of new AI-based products and strategic projects from early field testing to launch and lifecycle management.
• Plan and coordinate harmonized field trial programs with research, regions, and countries.
• Provide technical positioning for AI products and design strategies for use and development plans.
• Translate data into clear, evidence-based recommendations for decisions.
• Provide technical support to product launches to meet marketing and customer needs.
• Lead biology activities within global MPTs, BSRTs, AIM Teams across the portfolio.
• Foster technical networking with customers and key influencers to support solutions.
• Seek new approaches to enhance or reposition a product’s value proposition.
• Drive strategic innovation and identify market opportunities for actives, formulations and technology.
• Support current and new third-party products as needed.
• Lead and execute global Resistance Management strategy across R&D and regions.
• Partner with data scientists to gain insights for development and value creation.
• Maintain efficient knowledge management of data and information.
