Job summary

Clariant seeks a senior leader for ESHA & IGSM, Head of ESHA & IGSM, to own the global strategy across ~70 production sites. The role reports to the Chief Strategy & Technology Officer and leads a team of ~8 across functions worldwide.

You will define and drive QESH and ISO-based management systems, oversee certification programs, and ensure risk-based governance, safety, environment, and regulatory reporting with external partners.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in chemical engineering, environmental science, occupational health & safety, or related technical discipline.
• 10+ years of progressive ESHA experience with global/multi-site leadership responsibilities.
• In-depth knowledge of ISO 9001, 14001, 45001, 50001 and international auditing practices.
• Experience in risk engineering, property damage and insurance management.
• Hands-on ESHA data management and digital platforms experience.
• Proven ability to lead large, internationally dispersed teams and build high-performing organizations.
• Strong stakeholder management across functions and external authorities.
• Track record of driving culture change and capability development in complex organizations.
• Strategic mindset to translate ESHA objectives into business value.

Responsibilities

• Define and implement QESH strategy, global policies, standards, and improvement programs across all Clariant sites.
• Own and improve the Integrated Management System and certification strategy.
• Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, 14001, 45001, and 50001 across sites.
• Steer global performance via risk-based audit planning, corrective actions, and document control.
• Drive a Zero Incident culture in occupational health & safety, process safety, and environmental management.
• Govern insurance risk engineering across a CHF 5.7B asset portfolio.
• Manage environmental liabilities and remediation programs.
• Lead and develop the global ESHA & IGSM organization and networks.
• Ensure auditable ESHA reporting for management decisions and regulatory requirements.
• Represent Clariant externally with certification bodies, insurers, and regulators.
