Detailed Job Description

As an OpenShift Virtualization Engineer supporting enterprise transformation in Zürich via Alegra Group AG, you will take full operational, tactical, and technical ownership of OpenShift platform infrastructure, container-native virtualization (CNV), and VMware workload migration activities. Your day-to-day responsibilities include configuring OpenShift clusters, migrating legacy virtual machines, designing VM networking and storage integration, and troubleshooting complex cluster-level issues. You will collaborate closely with enterprise client stakeholders, architecture squads, and project managers in a hybrid working model. Key Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, configure, and maintain enterprise Red Hat OpenShift platform infrastructure and container-native virtualization (CNV) environments.
• Execute complex workload migrations from legacy VMware virtualization platforms to OpenShift Virtualization.
• Configure and manage advanced virtual machine networking, software-defined storage, and persistent storage classes within OpenShift.
• Conduct thorough migration planning, assessment, testing, and cutover execution for enterprise virtual machines.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize OpenShift platform performance, resource utilization, and cluster health.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with enterprise client engineering teams, security officers, and project managers.

• Maintain comprehensive technical documentation, migration runbooks, cluster topologies, and operational procedures.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Minimum of 5+ years of progressive professional experience in enterprise Linux systems administration, Kubernetes, and Red Hat OpenShift.
• Strong hands-on operational experience with OpenShift Virtualization and Container-Native Virtualization (CNV).
• Proven successful track record migrating VMware virtual machine workloads to OpenShift Virtualization environments.
• Deep expertise in OpenShift platform infrastructure, cluster management, VM networking, and persistent storage integration.
• Mandatory fluent German language proficiency (written and spoken) for daily stakeholder communication and documentation.
• Excellent analytical, complex problem-solving, and cross-functional communication skills.
• Mandatory legal work eligibility in Switzerland with availability for hybrid work arrangements in Zürich.
