Xylem seeks to hire a high potential, entry level candidate to their Finance Leadership Development Program (FLDP). This candidate will be capable of taking on a future finance leadership role at the Company after a series of rotations through various central finance functions as well as at Xylem businesses over 36 month period. Participants gain broad exposure to critical finance functions and build core capabilities in financial analysis, business partnership, and strategic decision support across a global organization. The Company will provide formal coaching and development opportunities throughout the program.

The 2025 FLDP candidates begin in September/ October 2025 and rotate through 3 different roles over the course of the 3 year program.

Location: Schaffhausen in Switzerland (Xylem Europe Headquarter) or Montecchio Maggiore (Italy) or Emmaboda (Sweden)

Essential Duties/Principal Responsibilities

Responsibilities will vary depending on the assigned rotation within Accounting, FP&A, Internal Audit, Investor Relations, or Operations. Participants will hold full-time analyst responsibilities in each area and contribute to high-impact projects. Responsibilities may include:

Accounting & Controllership

  • Assist with the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close process, including journal entries, reconciliations.
  • Help drive improvements in accounting processes, controls, and documentation, including standard operating procedures.
  • Support ad hoc projects such as lease accounting, fixed assets, or technical accounting research.

Financial Analysis & Reporting

  • Accumulate, analyze, and interpret results from Xylem’s global business units.
  • Support monthly close processes and budget/ forecasting cycles, including variance analysis and preparation of key deliverables.
  • Assist with the creation and maintenance of reports, presentations, earnings call scripts, and press releases.

Strategic & Project-Based Work

  • Support Investor Relations and FP&A teams on ad hoc strategic initiatives, including sustainability research, peer benchmarking, and process improvement projects.
  • Participate in or support M&A evaluations and strategic investment analyses (as applicable).
  • Conduct competitive and market research, including peer company analysis and financial statement reviews.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Serve as a liaison between finance and other departments, coordinating inputs and fostering collaboration across teams.
  • Drive continuous improvement and standardization initiatives.
  • Present findings and recommendations to varied audiences in a clear, concise, and impactful manner.

Professional Development & Leadership Growth

  • Actively contribute to a culture of continuous improvement, offering ideas to streamline processes and enhance efficiency.
  • Demonstrate initiative, problem-solving, and ownership in all assignments with minimal oversight.
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders across all levels and functions.

Digital Tools & Automation

  • Leverage financial systems (e.g., SAP, Power BI) and digital tools to drive automation, enhance insights, and support data-driven decision-making.
  • Familiarity with or strong interest in automation tools (e.g., Alteryx, UiPath), and a comfort level working with data analytics platforms.

Qualifications: Education, Experience, Skills, Abilities, License/Certification:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or a related field. Candidates with degrees in other disciplines (e.g., Data Analytics, Engineering) will also be considered, provided they have completed adequate coursework in core business areas.
  • Prior internship experience is an advantage, though not required.
  • Familiarity with project planning methodologies, including critical path planning.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Familiarity with digital finance tools such as Excel (advanced functions), Power BI, Tableau, or other business intelligence platforms.
  • Foundational understanding of or curiosity about emerging technologies in finance, including AI, machine learning, and predictive analytics.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across teams.
  • Excellent organizational and planning abilities with keen attention to detail.
  • Effective problem-solving capabilities and sound analytical thinking.
  • Strong written communication skills, including documentation and reporting.
  • Self-starter with the ability to take initiative and work with minimal supervision.
  • Comfortable engaging with a diverse range of stakeholders across functions and levels.
