ETH Zurich's Rehabilitation Engineering Laboratory (RELab) invites an Embedded Systems Engineer to join the ax|ReCover project in Zurich. This 80-100% fixed-term role supports a 16‑month Innosuisse project to turn a modular smartphone-based rehabilitation platform into a manufacturable product.

You will lead embedded firmware and electronics development, design sensor pipelines, BLE links, and power management, and create robust PCBs while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team of

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor level or higher in electrical engineering, embedded systems, or related field.
• Experience with embedded firmware for ARM Cortex-M microcontrollers.
• Experience with BLE communication and sensor integration.
• Experience with schematic capture and PCB design tools (KiCad, Altium).
• Strong debugging skills across hardware and software.

Aufgaben

• Develop embedded firmware for the ax|ReCover platform.
• Design, implement and validate sensor acquisition pipelines.
• Integrate biomechanical and physiological sensors into embedded systems.
• Develop BLE communication between the device and smartphone.
• Implement synchronized sensor acquisition and data streaming.
• Design and iterate PCBs for new hardware revisions.
• Develop low-level drivers for sensors and peripherals.
• Collaborate with the research team on electronics integration and prototype development.
• Use laboratory equipment to diagnose issues and optimize performance.
