Job summary

Helbling Technik in Bern, Switzerland, seeks an Embedded Software Engineer focused on consumer electronics and applied AI. You will develop embedded software on SoMs, implement firmware for microcontrollers, and apply AI on devices.

Expect collaboration with hardware and mechanical teams, and direct work with customer engineering groups on production‑grade products. Requirements include 3+ years in embedded software, strong C/C++, RTOS/bare‑metal, embedded Linux (Yocto), and fluency in English

Qualifications

• BSc or MSc in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related field.
• Minimum three years of professional embedded software development experience.
• Strong C/C++ programming on embedded systems with RTOS or bare‑metal.
• Experience with embedded Linux (Yocto) on SoM platforms.
• Experience integrating connectivity stacks (BLE, Wi‑Fi, Zigbee/Thread).
• Hands‑on AI deployment on embedded platforms; on‑device inference.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to embedded software architecture and design within multidisciplinary teams.
• Implement firmware and software for microcontrollers and SoMs across bare‑metal and RTOS.
• Work with SoMs from providers (e.g., Kontron, Toradex) including embedded Linux.
• Integrate connectivity stacks (BLE, Wi‑Fi, Zigbee/Thread).
• Apply AI on embedded platforms; deploy models and integrate AI SDKs.
• Write and execute unit, integration, and system tests; debug across hardware/software.
