Hexagon Robotics in Zürich is seeking an Electronics Technician to join our hands-on hardware team. You will develop, assemble, test and validate electronics for our next-generation robotic systems, collaborating with electronics, mechanical, embedded software and platform teams.

You’ll build prototypes, perform fine-pitch soldering, debug PCBs, measure with oscilloscopes and multimeters, create test fixtures, and support hardware bring-up and root-cause analysis in a fast-moving R&D

Qualifikationen

• Ideally a degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics or similar; or a strong vocational qualification in electronics.
• At least 5 years of hands-on experience in electronics technician, engineering, hardware development or test roles.
• Excellent practical electronics skills with the ability to assemble, debug, modify and repair hardware.
• Strong soldering and rework skills, including fine-pitch SMT components and PCBAs.
• Ability to read schematics, wiring diagrams, PCB assembly drawings and datasheets.
• Experience with PCBA bring-up, hardware debugging, fault finding and root-cause analysis.
• Experience with power electronics, batteries, motors, sensors and interfaces (CAN, EtherCAT, Ethernet, SPI, I2C, UART) is advantageous.
• ECAD tools experience (Altium) is advantageous.
• Basic programming (e.g., Python) or test scripting experience is advantageous.
• Ability to work independently, be methodical and maintain an organized electronics lab.

Electronics Technician, you will play a key hands-on role in the development, assembly, testing and validation of electronics for our next-generation robotic systems. Working closely with our Electronics, Mechanical, Embedded Software and Platform teams, you will help turn engineering designs into reliable prototypes and production-ready solutions.

Your Mission

• Building, assembling and modifying electronic prototypes, PCBAs, cable harnesses and complete electromechanical systems
• Performing fine-pitch soldering, rework and repair of electronic assemblies, including SMT and through-hole components
• Supporting engineers with the bring-up, debugging and validation of new PCBAs and electronic systems
• Carrying out electrical measurements and troubleshooting using oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, electronic loads, logic analysers and other laboratory equipment
• Creating, modifying and maintaining cable harnesses, including crimping, soldering, connector assembly and continuity testing
• Building and maintaining test benches, fixtures and development equipment
• Supporting prototype and small-series robot builds, including electronics integration, fault finding and system-level testing
• Executing test plans and documenting test results, failures and corrective actions
• Performing incoming inspection and functional testing of PCBAs, cables, batteries and other electronic components supplied by external manufacturing partners
• Supporting root-cause analysis of hardware failures and implementing rework or corrective actions
• Working closely with Engineers on schematic reviews, component selection, PCB modifications and prototype improvements
• Supporting external suppliers and manufacturing partners with technical questions, assembly issues and quality investigations
• Maintaining an organised electronics laboratory, including tools, test equipment, components and prototype hardware
• Working in a multicultural and interdisciplinary team across electronics, mechanics, software and robotics

Your Skillset

• Ideally a degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Electronics, Mechatronics or a similar technical discipline; alternatively, a strong vocational qualification in electronics combined with significant relevant industry experience
• At least 5 years of professional experience in an electronics technician, electronics engineering, hardware development, test or similar hands-on role
• Excellent practical electronics skills with a strong ability to assemble, debug, modify and repair electronic hardware
• Strong soldering and rework skills, including experience working with small SMT components, fine-pitch devices and delicate PCBAs
• Confident using oscilloscopes, multimeters, bench power supplies, electronic loads and other standard electronics laboratory equipment
• Experience with cable and wiring assembly, including crimping, soldering, connector assembly and cable testing
• Ability to read and understand electronic schematics, wiring diagrams, PCB assembly drawings and component datasheets
• Experience with PCBA bring-up, hardware debugging, fault finding and root-cause analysis
• Familiarity with power electronics, batteries, motors, sensors and communication interfaces such as CAN, EtherCAT, Ethernet, SPI, I²C and UART is advantageous
• Experience working with Altium Designer or another ECAD package is advantageous
• Experience with automated test equipment, test scripting or basic programming (for example Python) is advantageous
• Experience working with external PCBA, cable harness or electronics manufacturing partners is advantageous
• A practical, methodical and quality-focused approach, with the ability to work independently and take ownership of laboratory and prototype activities
• Comfortable working in a fast-moving R&D environment where designs and priorities can evolve quickly
• Proficiency in English required; German skills are advantageous
