Job Summary:

Reporting to the Business Unit Manager, the Business Unit Controller is responsible for all accounting activities and global financial operations. This position will be a strategic business partner to the business unit leadership team by accurately measuring and forecasting operating performance related to KPIs and making recommendations for improvements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain effective internal control of all business unit operations and locations to ensure continued protection of its assets and an accurate reporting of its financial position.
  • Provide management with monthly, quarterly, and annual reviews of the organization’s financial status and progress in its various programs and activities in accordance with the Corporations reporting formats and requirements.
  • Partner with sales and operations management to manage working capital by balancing inventory, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
  • Forecast Business Unit business activity and financial position in the areas of income, expenses, and earnings based on past, present, and expected operations in accordance with the Corporation’s reporting formats and requirements.
  • Direct preparation of budgets by reviewing budget proposals; prepare necessary supporting documentation and justification.
  • Arrange audits of business units’ financials, as well as, internal and external audit requirements and US Sarbanes Oxley-404 (SOX) testing and compliance.
  • Perform due diligence on potential acquisition targets. Develop models, business forecasts and trend analysis to support these opportunities, as needed.
  • Drive IT strategy as defined by Division Director of IT, and management of information technology.
  • Represent the company externally, as necessary, to government agencies and auditors.
  • Recruit, train, supervise, and develop department staff and conduct annual performance evaluations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • 10+ years of previous experience in operational accounting leadership roles.
  • Strong background in GAAP, SEC Reporting and Sarbanes-Oxley Act compliance as well as Manufacturing Finance.

Desired Qualifications:

  • MBA and CPA preferred.
  • 2-3 years at a public accounting firm would be a plus.
  • Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing experience a plus.
  • Proven team player with capabilities in communication, presentation, leadership, interpersonal skills, problem-solving, organizational skills, and the ability to relate effectively at all organizational levels.
  • Hands-on, detail-oriented, with the ability to see the big picture.
  • Proven business partnership skills, ability to work in a matrix environment.
  • Ability to work under pressure, multitask, meet deadlines with accuracy.
  • Ability to coordinate with business leaders across multiple locations.
  • Experience in managing staff, setting goals, developing talent.
  • Self-motivated, flexible, eager to learn and grow.
  • Computer skills: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Hyperion Enterprise, ERP systems.

Up to 20% travel required.
