Organizational Context

The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) is the world’s largest humanitarian organization, with a network of 191-member National Societies. Its aim is to inspire, encourage, facilitate, and promote humanitarian activities to prevent and alleviate human suffering, maintaining human dignity and peace globally. IFRC works to meet the needs of vulnerable populations before, during, and after crises.

Guided by principles of humanity, impartiality, neutrality, independence, voluntary service, unity, and universality, IFRC is led by its Secretary General, with headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland. The organization comprises various divisions and regional offices worldwide, including a dedicated department for Strategic Partnerships and Resource Mobilization (SPRM).

Job Purpose

The SPRM will lead efforts to develop innovative resource mobilization strategies, establish new partnerships, and increase funding from diverse sources including governments, private sector, foundations, and multilateral institutions. The role involves developing and implementing strategic plans, guiding regional and country offices, and representing IFRC externally to enhance its financial sustainability and impact.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Partnership Development: Build collaborations that focus on resilient communities, working with national societies, governments, civil society, and the private sector.
  2. Resource Mobilization: Lead global efforts to secure funding, manage donor relationships, and explore new funding opportunities through innovative financial instruments and partnerships.
  3. Strategic Engagement: Develop tailored strategies for engaging with multilateral organizations, financial institutions, and private sector partners to support IFRC’s goals.
  4. Quality and Accountability: Ensure the quality of partnership management, monitor performance, and uphold accountability standards across the organization.
  5. Management: Oversee the department’s structure, supervise staff, and foster collaboration within the team and across the organization.
Qualifications and Experience

Required: Master’s degree in relevant fields, 10-15 years in leadership roles in international organizations, extensive experience in partnerships, diplomacy, and fundraising, including field experience in fragile states.

Preferred: Private sector experience, additional language skills (French, Spanish, Arabic).
