Purpose
CENTEGIX is seeking a Director of Sustaining Engineering to join our Engineering team. This leader will oversee sustaining efforts for our safety technology platform, guiding a team of experienced engineering contractors to ensure the reliability, quality, and continuous improvement of products already in the field. The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise with strong leadership skills, enabling them to translate business needs into engineering solutions, drive issue resolution, and provide strategic input that shapes future product development.
Responsibilities
- Translate problem sets from non-technical stakeholders into clear, testable engineering scenarios.
- Lead and mentor a team of contractors to diagnose, prioritize, and resolve sustaining bugs and issues.
- Partner with Engineering and Operations leadership to communicate priorities, field metrics, and project timelines.
- Oversee root cause analysis and product lifecycle sustainment strategies to ensure long-term reliability.
- Provide strategic feedback to R&D/Product teams to influence future product design and prevent recurring issues.
Requirements
- 10-15 years Engineering Experience
- Leadership Experience (minimum 5 years)
- Embedded systems engineering
- IoT engineering
- Engineering sustainment and lifecycle support
- Hands-on development with Nordic nRF52XX SoCs
- Hands-on development with Semtech LR1110
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in C firmware development for embedded systems
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with version control (e.g., Git), Docker, and VPN software
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Altium PCB layout for 2- and 4-layer mixed-signal RF boards
- Technical Skills: Strong understanding of LoRa and Bluetooth protocol stacks, testbeds, and racks
- Technical Skills: Experience with OTA (Over-The-Air) firmware update systems
- Leadership & Communication: Proven ability to lead and mentor a small engineering team/contractors
- Leadership & Communication: Clear written and verbal communication skills
- Location/Travel: Must be able to travel 2x a month to the testing facility in Annapolis, MD
- Location/Travel: Occasional travel optional (approx. once a year for company-wide meetups)
