PartnerRe is seeking a Senior Direct & Facultative Underwriter to join our Property & Downstream underwriting team, based in Zurich or London. You will lead direct and facultative underwriting, engage brokers, and drive portfolio growth while collaborating with global partners.

Qualifikationen

• At least 7 years of direct and facultative underwriting experience.
• Strong expertise in corporate downstream and/or property insurance and facultative reinsurance.
• Thorough knowledge of insurance coverage structures and policy specifics.
• Solid grasp of actuarial pricing methodologies.
• Excellent communication skills and fluency in English.

We are looking for a Senior Direct & Facultative Underwriter to join our Property & Downstream underwriting team in Zurich or London. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a very experienced and successful underwriting team that is looking to add further talent to its ranks.

Your Role

You will be responsible for direct & facultative underwriting and marketing of global property & downstream, ensuring effective risk assessment, client and broker engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

• Drive the acquisition and growth of a profitable direct & facultative portfolio across designated lines of business and markets.
• Conduct comprehensive analysis of direct & facultative submissions, including technical risk assessments, pricing evaluations, catastrophe exposure reviews, and detailed evaluation of slips, wordings, clauses, and reinsurance agreements.
• Engage effectively with our global network of brokers and insured clients to foster strong business relationships.
• Lead negotiations on terms and conditions with international brokers to secure optimal, solution-oriented outcomes.
• Collaborate actively with internal stakeholders including accounting, claims, wording specialists, catastrophe modelling, legal, compliance, and treaty underwriting teams.
• Manage administrative underwriting responsibilities such as reviewing and processing contractual documents, monitoring premium flows, and ensuring data quality.
• Perform regular portfolio reviews and in-depth analyses to support strategic decision-making and continuous improvement.

Your Profile

• At least 7 years of direct and facultative underwriting experience within the assigned lines of business and markets.
• Strong expertise in the corporate downstream and/or property insurance and facultative reinsurance landscape, with a deep understanding of market dynamics.
• Thorough knowledge of insurance coverage structures and policy specifics.
• Solid grasp of actuarial pricing methodologies and the ability to engage in technical pricing discussions.
• Excellent communication skills, with fluency in English (written and spoken); additional language skills are a plus.
• Proven ability to negotiate effectively, develop tailored solutions, and build lasting relationships with brokers and clients.
• Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, with the ability to work seamlessly across internal teams and with senior management.
