Job summary

Ferrum Process Systems AG in Switzerland seeks an experienced engineer to own technical projects focused on design optimization, cost reduction, and sustainable improvements. You will analyze components and assemblies across the value chain and support make-or-buy decisions.

Lead cross-functional projects with CAD expertise (SolidWorks) and experience in CAM/FEM/PDM, while communicating effectively in English and German. Travel ~10% is expected.

Qualifications

• Degree in a technical field (e.g., BSc in Mechanical Engineering or similar).
• Completed basic technical training (apprenticeship), ideally as a Design Engineer (Konstrukteur/in EFZ) or Polymechanic (Polymechaniker/in EFZ).
• Proven ability to lead projects, manage project controlling, and facilitate project meetings.
• Proactive, highly communicative personality with a strong understanding of processes and a high level of personal responsibility.
• Proficient in using CAD systems (ideally SolidWorks), along with initial experience in CAM, FEM, or PDM solutions.
• Knowledge of FMEA (Design and Process), Value Engineering, or product certifications.
• Fluent in English and German; knowledge of Polish is a plus.
• Willingness to travel (approx. 10%)

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of technical projects with a focus on design optimization, cost reduction, and sustainable product improvements.
• Analyze and continuously improve components, assemblies, and solutions across the entire value chain.
• Support and help shape make-or-buy decisions based on technical and economic criteria.
• Independently manage the engineering of manufactured parts and design solutions, integrating the expertise of various departments.
• Implement Value Engineering to reduce costs and complexity without compromising functionality, quality, or reliability.
• Coordinate development activities in close collaboration with Engineering, Purchasing, Production, as well as other internal and external interfaces.
