Actalent is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer in Rotkreuz, Switzerland to lead mechatronic product development and design transfer systems for automated handling solutions. The role requires 10+ years of experience in regulated environments and deep expertise in transfer systems, robotics, and FEA.

Fluency in German and English is essential, along with CATIA V5/SolidWorks proficiency and PLM experience.

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related discipline.
• 10+ years of professional experience in mechanical design in regulated environments such as medical devices, diagnostics, or GxP industries.
• Strong expertise in transfer systems, automation technologies, robotic applications, or mechatronic handling systems.
• Experience performing mechanical calculations and simulations including drive design, structural load analysis, FEA, and motion studies.
• Strong knowledge of CATIA V5 and/or SolidWorks, PLM systems, and ISO 8015 tolerance standards.
• Experience with Design for Manufacturing, material selection, and industrialization through to series production.
• Fluent German and English.
• Strong analytical mindset, structured working style, and excellent collaboration skills.

Our client, a leading player in the diagnostics industry, is looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team in Rotkreuz.

Responsibilities

• Act as the subject matter expert for transfer systems, automated handling technologies, flexible feeding systems, and precise pick-and-place mechanisms, including customer-specific end effectors and grippers.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship within mechatronic product development and innovation projects while establishing best practices and modular design standards.
• Develop reusable mechatronic modules and standardized architectures to improve efficiency and scalability.
• Design drive and motion components, including actuators, motors, and pneumatic systems, and perform FEA and kinematic simulations to optimize system performance.
• Plan and execute technical work packages while managing timelines, budgets, and project risks.
• Conduct tolerance analyses, root cause investigations, and prototype testing, and present data-driven design improvements.
• Create, review, and maintain technical documentation in compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate closely with production, purchasing, quality assurance, regulatory affairs, service teams, and external suppliers.
