Job summary

GE Vernova in Birr, Switzerland, invites motivated engineering students to join the STEPS program as a DLE Engineering Intern. You will gain hands-on experience with gas turbine hardware, collaborate with global teams, and participate in training and site visits.

The role focuses on supporting design and manufacturing of flow path hardware, resolving deviations, and contributing to design improvements. English fluency is required, and the program runs up to 12 months at the Birr site.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field at a University in Switzerland.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical design fundamentals including stress, fatigue, creep, materials, tolerancing, and design for manufacturability.
• Understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) with ability to interpret drawings and bills of materials.
• Familiarity with manufacturing processes such as forging, casting, machining, coatings, inspection, and fixturing.
• Knowledge of gas turbine hardware or similar rotating machinery.
• Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tools (e.g., Ansys) and 3D CAD (e.g., NX).
• Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
• Language: English fluency required

Responsibilities

• Analyze and help resolve non-conforming hardware using engineering tools and methods
• Support redesign efforts through engineering drawing updates
• Assist with qualification of hardware for second-source suppliers and process or design changes
• Participate in technical reviews and risk assessments at component and assembly level
• Follow established engineering standards, templates, and standard work
• Contribute to improvements in manufacturability, quality, and cost
• Collaborate across engineering and global supply chain to support hardware delivery
