Job summary

PW1427 GE Energy Switzerland GmbH offers an engineering internship through the STEPS program in Birr, Switzerland. You will support the Design Liaison Engineering team, learning hands-on with gas turbine hardware and collaborating across engineering and supply chain to enhance manufacturability and quality.

Ideal candidates are pursuing a Mechanical Engineering degree in Switzerland, with knowledge of GD&T, FEA (Ansys), NX, and manufacturing processes, plus strong communication and English

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing or recently completed a Mechanical Engineering degree
• Strong knowledge of mechanical design fundamentals including stress, fatigue, creep and tolerancing
• Familiarity with GD&T and engineering drawings/BOMs
• Experience with manufacturing processes (forging, casting, machining, coatings, inspection, fixturing)
• Knowledge of gas turbine hardware or rotating machinery
• Experience with FEA tools (e.g., Ansys) and 3D CAD (NX)
• Proficient with MS Office, especially Excel
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Ability to collaborate in a cross-functional global organization
• English language fluency required

Responsibilities

• Analyze and help resolve non-conforming hardware using engineering tools and methods
• Support redesign efforts through engineering drawing updates
• Assist with qualification of hardware for second-source suppliers and process or design changes
• Participate in technical reviews and risk assessments at component and assembly level
• Follow established engineering standards, templates, and standard work
• Contribute to improvements in manufacturability, quality, and cost
• Collaborate across engineering and global supply chain to support hardware delivery
