Job summary

ekona is hiring data engineers in Basel, Switzerland, to build production-grade ELT pipelines and trustworthy data foundations. You will work with ERP/PLM data, SAP, and master data, partnering with AI and software engineers on planning and simulation tools.

You’ll implement robust data quality, version control and CI/CD practices, shaping our data engineering playbook as we go. This on-site role emphasizes real-world data problems in regulated industries.

Qualifications

• Several years of professional data engineering experience with pipelines in production.
• Strong SQL and Python skills.
• Hands-on experience with dbt, Airflow and Snowflake, or Dagster, Prefect, Databricks or BigQuery.
• Solid data modeling; keep models simple.
• Good engineering habits: at least one major cloud platform, Git workflows, CI/CD and containers; Terraform a plus.
• Data-quality mindset: testing, reconciliation and lineage.
• Ability to talk to non-technical stakeholders.
• Very good English; German a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design and run ELT pipelines using dbt and Airflow on Snowflake and other cloud data platforms.
• Model data into clean, documented, tested marts for applications and AI agents.
• Profile and reconcile data across sources; build data-quality checks into pipelines.
• Work with ERP and PLM data such as SAP, master data, BOMs and related docs.
• Collaborate with AI and software engineers to land data in planning and simulation tools.
• Ship like a software engineer: version control, code review, CI/CD, IaC and promote changes to production.
• Shape how we work by contributing to our data engineering playbook, templates and tooling; your ideas will be heard.
