Customer & Operations Specialist Bioindicators 80-100%

Founded in 1968, SKAN is a pioneer in cleanroom equipment and the development of isolators for the pharmaceutical industry. Innovative products, tailor-made solutions and an effective service organization have made SKAN a market leader and a key partner to industry and research laboratories.

Overview

The SKAN Laboratory specializes in the production and testing of biological indicators and is a key partner for questions related to microbiological qualification processes. As part of our 14-person SKAN Laboratory team, you will work closely with your colleagues to ensure the reliable distribution of our globally recognized biological indicators. This role combines technical customer support with the continuous development of internal processes and the active development of existing and new customer relationships. It is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a structured manner, taking ownership, optimizing processes, and acting as a link between customers and internal subject-matter experts. This is not a traditional sales role. Instead, you will take a holistic approach to managing and growing the business. You will ensure the smooth execution of day-to-day operations, modernize and optimize related processes, manage the onboarding of new customers, and support existing customers with their needs and inquiries. At the same time, you will establish a structured key account management approach and proactively engage with potential new customers. We look forward to receiving your application by August 30, 2026.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for customers regarding the SKAN Laboratory product portfolio (biological indicators and QC test methods)
  • Handle all customer inquiries and complaints related to the SKAN Laboratory portfolio
  • Coordinate customer onboarding, including all required documentation
  • Support the continuous improvement of the customer experience based on customer feedback
  • Identify customer needs and opportunities to develop and strengthen existing customer relationships

Order Management & Operations

  • Process and coordinate customer orders
  • Coordinate with Production and Quality Control (QC) regarding production planning and product release
  • Plan batch allocation for customer orders
  • Ensure efficient processes throughout the order-to-delivery cycle

Process Development

  • Optimize and modernize planning and ordering processes
  • Establish a knowledge base and further develop digital customer services
  • Contribute to cross-functional optimization and change management projects

Business Excellence & Customer Operations

  • Analyze customer behavior and market trends
  • Establish a key account management framework
  • Support the acquisition process from initial customer contact through the development of long-term customer relationships
  • Proactively reach out to and build relationships with potential new customers
  • Work closely with internal subject-matter experts and sales partners to develop new customer and business opportunities
  • Degree in a natural science or engineering discipline, preferably in microbiology, biology, biotechnology, biochemistry, pharmaceutical sciences, food technology, process engineering, environmental science, or a related field. A solid foundational knowledge of microbiology, particularly bacterial spores, microbial inactivation, and decontamination processes, is preferred
  • At least two years of professional experience
  • Additional training in business administration or demonstrated practical experience in process management or customer support
  • Initial experience or demonstrated interest and aptitude in customer acquisition, business development, account development, or related areas
  • Excellent German and English skills

Softskills

  • Strong customer and service orientation, with a genuine interest in building and developing long-term customer relationships
  • Proactive and entrepreneurial mindset, with a strong ability to identify customer needs and new business opportunities
  • Excellent organizational and coordination skills, with the ability to prioritize effectively in a high-volume environment
  • Independent, structured, and solution-oriented approach to work, with an interest in optimizing processes and workflows
  • Strong understanding of efficient processes and a passion for analyzing existing workflows, continuously improving them, and implementing sustainable solutions
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative approach to cross-functional teamwork and confidence when interacting with customers and internal stakeholders

We offer you

  • An open and collaborative corporate culture
  • Freedom to contribute and develop ideas
  • Opportunities to participate in sports and social activities
  • Professional development and continuous learning opportunities, especially at our SKAN Academy
  • Comprehensive and career-focused onboarding
  • Quick decision-making paths and flat hierarchies
  • Transparent and open communication
  • 5 weeks of vacation, with the option to take additional leave
