Position Overview: The Corporate Relations Manager’s primary responsibility is to support the development and implementation of an annual sponsorship plan in partnership with the Senior Director of Development and the Development team. The role will expand NRPA’s capacity to increase and diversify revenue by building relationships, cultivating, and soliciting support from corporate sponsors aligned with NRPA’s mission and strategic goals. This role will collaborate with NRPA’s external partners and internal stakeholders to identify and cultivate prospects, build relationships, and convert supporters into sustainers. The Manager will report to the Senior Director of Development and work with a cross-functional team across multiple departments.

Responsibilities

Fundraising Strategy and Execution

  • Co-create and implement an annual corporate fundraising plan aligned with NRPA’s strategic goals, focusing on proactive research, cultivation, and solicitation of gifts from corporate sponsors to increase revenue.
  • Enhance NRPA’s advertising and exhibits revenue streams by building a strategic corporate program, including sponsorship packages that leverage NRPA assets (e.g., Research, Professional Development, Marketing and Communications).
  • Partner with other departments to develop fundraising strategies and campaigns aligned with NRPA’s priorities, including campaign development, prospect research, outreach, and sponsorships.
  • In collaboration with a Development team of eight and other contributors, oversee the quality of prospect research and sponsorship materials to improve proposals and reports.
  • Explore potential new fundraising strategies and revenue streams in partnership with the Development team and other departments.
  • Support engagement and relationship management with NRPA’s Business Council and the annual prospect identification and solicitation process in coordination with the Senior Director of Development, Chief Partnerships Officer, and other team members.
  • Partner with the Senior Director of Development and Director of Membership to increase engagement with the member affinity program.

Relationship Management

  • Represent NRPA in direct outreach, pitch meetings, and cultivation events to advance fundraising and strategic goals.
  • Maximize the value of sponsor relationships by working cross-departmentally to create engagement opportunities and develop print and web materials that highlight the impact of local parks.
  • Collaborate with the Conference team to identify sponsorship activation opportunities during the Annual Conference and provide on-site support during Conference Week for exhibitors and sponsors.

Customer Service

  • Provide excellent service to members, donors, partners, and colleagues; respond promptly to inquiries from staff and potential partners.

Essential Skills And Abilities

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and experience
  • Superior presentation, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, with tact to persuade key decision makers
  • Three or more years of experience in the strategic pursuit of new corporate relationships
  • Excellent writing skills with a focus on drafting proposals and concept papers for sponsorships
  • Proven track record of expanding corporate partnerships to sustain and grow revenue and impact year over year
  • Understanding of diversity, equity and inclusion concepts and a commitment to DEI practices in internal and external relationships
  • Interest in parks and recreation, urban planning, climate change, health equity, environmental justice, or social justice
  • Self-directed, detail-oriented, and collaborative with a professional team spirit
  • Willing to travel 15 to 25 days per year
