Purpose of Assignment

The UNICEF Country Office Development and Support (CODAS) section, within the Private Fundraising and Partnerships Division (PFP) in Geneva, Switzerland, seeks a consultant to provide implementation support for digital tests on Individual Giving in the Eastern and Southern Africa (ESA) and West and Central Africa (WCA) regions, with aim of achieving the 2026 goals. This work builds on tests initiated in 2024, and support may also be extended to other regions as needed.

The consultant will work directly with the Regional Office (RO) Private Sector Fundraising (PSFR) teams, ICT, CODAS, and external agencies to ensure that the related PSFR entities meet their 2026 goals, which will serve as a basis for evaluating potential plans for 2027 and beyond.

Scope of Work

The incumbent will be reporting to the Senior Advisor CODAS and working closely with the wider team as well as Regional Office teams, ICT, the Cluster Managers, CO PSFR teams, and external agencies. The incumbent will:

  • Implement digital fundraising activities and support their implementation at regional and local levels.
  • Support the execution and evaluation of the investment strategy across different channels and suppliers to obtain maximum profitability in terms of ROI, in accordance with the agreed yearly plan.
  • Define, coordinate, and implement emergency digital fundraising campaigns.
  • Collaborate with Communications and Individual Giving specialists in the region to boost acquisition, integrate channels, and support retention activities.
  • Support selection, management, and relationship with suppliers (tools and agencies).
  • Coordinate and onboard providers, following current contracts and activating new ones.
  • Support capacity building in regions.
  • Lead weekly meetings with regional colleagues to share learnings, optimizations, and new ideas with the team and agency.
  • Train digital personnel in ROs to enable them to manage future campaigns.
  • Share best practices between markets and regional offices.
  • Support financial and administrative processes with internal teams and digital providers.
  • Help ensure the relevant systems are in place i.e., Global Giving Platform for digital marketing. Work with ICT to ensure relevant landing pages are established.
  • Manage and optimize UNICEF’s Global Giving Platform for WCA and support in ESA to generate and maintain fundraising landing pages.
  • Help ensure adequate back-end tracking and analytics are in place to monitor results.
  • Monitor online advertising campaigns and provide proposals for improvement. Analyze and measure information from these campaigns, and report results.
  • Work with agencies and technical suppliers to develop and maintain a digital dashboard that gathers all main KPIs. Use Analytics and other tools to automate data collection and generate regional and local reports on the UNICEF Global Giving Platform for donations and conversions.

Qualifications

Education:

  • An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or higher) in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, Fundraising, Management, or another relevant technical field.
  • Alternatively, a first-level university degree with an additional two years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree.

Experience:

  • A minimum of five (5) years of professional experience in Digital Fundraising and/or Digital Marketing with implementation support.
  • Hands-on experience in developing markets and experience across multiple markets.
  • Experience working in a multicultural environment with cross-functional teams.
  • Knowledge of UNICEF digital Private Sector Fundraising (PSFR) systems, processes, and UNICEF regional and country office operations.
  • Familiarity with methods for producing digital marketing assets.

Language:

  • Fluency in English required. Knowledge of other UN official languages is an asset.
