A leading company in the maritime and construction industries is seeking a Senior Legal Manager to join their Contracts and Projects legal team. This role involves drafting, negotiating, and advising on commercial contracts, while supporting management decisions with legal advice. Candidates should possess a law degree, relevant Bar admission, and substantial experience in contract law, ideally within the maritime sector.

Qualifikationen

  • 5-12 years of experience post-qualification in a law firm.
  • Knowledge of English law and ideally UK qualification.
  • Prior work experience in maritime and terminal sectors is advantageous.

TIL is looking for a Legal Manager or Senior Legal Manager to expand its Commercial Contacting and Projects legal team.

About the Role

The position will assist the Technical Team with negotiation and contract drafting for construction and procurement projects and related pre-dispute and dispute matters. In addition, the position is responsible for advising on legal aspects of business decisions and supporting management approval process.

Responsibilities

  • Draft, review and interpret a wide variety of commercial contracts, including construction, equipment procurement, consulting and IT contracts and related correspondence.
  • Support the negotiation in different jurisdictions of commercial contracts and advise on the degree of legal risk associated with them.
  • Provide pragmatic, business-minded legal advice on issues identified in the context of the commercial contracting.
  • Develop and maintain contract templates for commercial contracting.
  • Support contract approval and document management processes.
  • Provide advice on potential and materialized disputes and gather relevant facts for progressing them.
  • Work closely with other functions in the company, including finance, tax, insurance, compliance and competition, to ensure their interests are taken into account in commercial contracting.
  • Coordinate use of outside legal advisers.
  • Prepared to travel worldwide from time to time.

Qualifications

  • University degree in law or equivalent nationally approved qualification.
  • Admitted to the Bar (past or present) with 5-12 years of experience post-qualification in a law firm. Inhouse experience is an advantage.
  • Outstanding knowledge of contract and commercial law, including a working knowledge of FIDIC suite of contracts is essential. Experience on public-private partnerships, public tenders and port concessions is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of English law – including UK qualification – is a must.
  • Strong drafting and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to proactively assist internal clients and provide innovative solutions.
  • Ability to work independently while keeping others informed.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, to respect deadlines, and to assume responsibilities.
  • Prior work experience in maritime and terminal sectors is an advantage.
  • Native level speaking and writing skills in English is required. Other main European languages are an advantage.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications.
