CERN is seeking a Power System Physicist/Engineer for the CMS High-Granularity Calorimeter (HGCAL). You will develop, test and commission power systems, from low voltage to high current supplies, and integrate them with safety and monitoring systems.

Your role involves procurement, testing, and commissioning in a multinational team, with exposure to underground installations and large-scale detector integration. A strong background in power electronics and detector instrumentation is required.

Qualifikationen

• Master's Degree or PhD or equivalent relevant experience in Applied Physics, Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Experience with testing, operating and debugging power systems for complex devices.
• Experience with large-scale procurement of electronic systems, such as power supplies.

Aufgaben

• Follow the procurement of the power supplies, including acceptance and stress tests on delivered units.
• Support the commissioning of these power systems during mass assembly and testing phases of HGCAL.
• Evaluate performance and develop mitigation strategies for power systems, both on surface and underground in CMS.
• Oversee installation, testing and integration of the power system with detector safety and monitoring systems.
