Zusammenfassung

CERN is seeking a Power System Physicist/Engineer for the CMS HGCAL project to develop, test and commission power systems for detector modules, including low‑voltage and bias supplies, with up to 800 V sensor biasing.

You will work in a multinational team on procurement, integration with safety and monitoring systems, and mitigation of noise; hands‑on construction and testing of power electronics are required.

Qualifikationen

  • Master's Degree or PhD (or equivalent) in Applied Physics, Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Strong track record testing and debugging power systems for complex detectors.
  • Experience with large-scale procurement of electronic systems (power supplies).
  • Ability to work in multinational, multicultural teams of engineers and scientists.
  • Excellent written and spoken English; willingness to learn French.

Aufgaben

  • Follow procurement of power supplies (low voltage and bias) and perform acceptance tests.
  • Support commissioning of power systems during mass assembly and testing phases.
  • Collaborate with physicists and engineers to evaluate performance and mitigate noise.
  • Oversee installation and testing of power systems underground and in CMS integration.
  • Manage technical aspects of contracts and ensure safe integration with safety systems.
