Job summary

Swisscom (Schweiz) AG is seeking an experienced DevOps professional to strengthen a close-knit agile team in Bern Worblaufen. You will enhance CI/CD pipelines, automate testing, monitoring and patching, and drive modernization using Kubernetes and Infrastructure as Code.

As we explore moving from on‑premises to AWS, you will contribute to the platform's technical direction, automate deployments, and ensure secure, scalable cloud-native services.

Qualifications

• A degree in computer science (university, ETH or university of applied sciences), or equivalent professional experience.
• Experience developing Java applications and working with Linux and scripting languages such as Bash.
• Evolving legacy systems toward a microservices architecture and operating cloud-native services and PostgreSQL.
• Strong command of version control, code reviews, automated testing and CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitLab CI, Jenkins or GitHub Actions.
• Familiar with dependency management, the software lifecycle and monitoring in a DevOps environment.
• Hands-on experience with automation including practical uses of AI in operations and Infrastructure as Code tools such as Ansible, alongside networking concepts including firewalls, load balancing and reverse proxies.
• Ownership of complex problems, investigating root causes and balancing modernization goals with production realities.
• Contributing constructively to an agile team, collaborating with colleagues and staying open to new approaches.
• Clear communication of technical topics and effective collaboration in English and German.

Responsibilities

• Improve CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, monitoring and patch management.
• Modernise platform using Kubernetes and Infrastructure as Code; decouple components for flexible deployments.
• Plan and implement transition from on-premises to AWS; build public cloud capabilities.
• Develop and operate cloud-native apps with Kubernetes and IaC; evaluate tools and architecture.
• Enhance platform reliability, scalability and maintainability; improve monitoring and incident handling.
