Position: Cloud Architect (AWS Observability Services)

Type: Permanent

Language requirement: French must

Job Description:

Desired Experience:

  • Proven expertise in AWS observability services (CloudWatch, X Ray, OpenSearch, etc.).
  • Experience designing observability platforms using both managed and open source tools (Kibana, Jaeger, OpenTelemetry, Grafana, Prometheus, Loki, FluentBit, etc.).
  • Familiarity with hybrid/cloud to on-premises setup.
  • Understanding of platform engineering and operating model practices.
  • Ability to deliver high-quality architecture documentation and prototypes.

Activities to be supported:

  • Discovery phase: Assess current observability tools, architecture, and team usage patterns. Identify gaps, inefficiencies, and potential enhancements.
  • Formulate the observability platform: Design a standardized, scalable, and cloud-native observability architecture blueprint, leveraging managed AWS services where appropriate, covering Logs, Metrics, Traces, and Alerting. Recommend the use of managed AWS services (e.g., Amazon Managed Grafana, Amazon Managed Service for Prometheus, OpenSearch, X Ray) or self-hosted alternatives, considering cost and management overhead. Incorporate UX/DevX for easy onboarding of workloads. Design integration mechanisms to forward alerts to on-premises alerting systems.
  • Establish governance and operational model: Define governance and operating models for a Platform Engineering team to manage the observability platform. Set standards such as naming conventions, default metrics tracking, dashboarding, and alerting. Implement cost governance, chargeback/showback if applicable.
  • Prototype / Proof of Concept: Implement a basic setup using the proposed architecture. Demonstrate integration with one or two application teams and on-premise alerting.
