The PositionThe Global Safety, Security, Health & Environment (Group SHE) team plays a crucial role in safeguarding our people, assets, and the environment across all our global operations. The OpportunityAs a Chapter Lead - People within Group Safety, Security, Health & Environment, you will take on a senior leadership role with four distinct areas of focus: People Leadership, Leading & Operating in a Matrix organization, Leadership as a member of the Group SHE Enabling Team, and Technical Leadership in Safety, Security, and Health. You will report directly to the Group Chief SHE Officer.
People Leadership: Foster the growth and development of your team, identifying and coaching high-potential individuals, and creating growth opportunities. Cultivate a collaborative and inclusive team environment where open communication, mutual respect, and psychological safety are paramount. Encourage open and honest feedback, empower individuals to take accountability, and drive practical, effective solutions.
Leading & Operating in a Matrix Organization: Identify key stakeholders across various functions and business units, proactively building strong and effective working relationships. Effectively influence stakeholders and drive alignment on SHE objectives and initiatives. Develop a deep understanding of the company's overall business strategy, products, priorities, and challenges to ensure SHE solutions are relevant, integrated, and value-adding.
Leadership as a member of the Group SHE Enabling Team: Prioritize the organization's overall goals, foster collaboration among team members, and engage in constructive discussions that challenge ideas and promote innovation. Articulate a clear and inspiring vision for the organization, aligning it with organizational goals and motivating individuals to contribute their best.
Technical Leadership in Safety, Security & Health: Oversee the development, implementation, and maintenance of robust and practical technical safety, health (including wellbeing), and security programs and procedures. Identify emerging SHE risks and opportunities on a global scale and contribute to the development of proactive mitigation strategies. Provide technical guidance and support for risk assessments, hazard identification, and the implementation of effective control measures.
Effectively manage team resources, including budget and workload, and provide clarity, explaining the "why" to support team members in navigating ambiguity.
Collaborate with stakeholders to develop and implement practical and effective SHE solutions that integrate into existing business processes and contribute to overall business success.
Lead and participate in incident investigations related to technical safety, health, and security, ensuring thorough analysis and the implementation of corrective and preventative actions.
We are looking for an exceptional leader with:
10+ years of experience in a senior VACC leadership position in health & safety within a large multi-national corporation.
Recognized expertise in health & safety with a strong global network, and proven experience in implementing health & safety programs on an R&D/manufacturing site.
Experience in roles requiring networked leadership capabilities in a matrix environment, managing high degrees of complexity while balancing short-term delivery and long-term success.
Exposure to complex work environments that demand the ability to manage change and ambiguity, and to rigorously prioritize in order to achieve business objectives.
An effective communicator who inspires and motivates others, with the ability to influence through active listening and concise messaging. You are empathetic while providing clear direction across different levels of the organization and courageous in expressing your ideas.
