Job Summary:
The Business Development Manager develops and maintains strong relationships with renewable energy developers, project owners, utilities, engineering firms, OEMs, and other key industry stakeholders. This position identifies upcoming projects, builds a qualified project pipeline, understands customer requirements, positions Takkion’s construction capabilities, and leads opportunities from initial engagement through contract award.
Essential Duties
- Develop and execute business development strategies focused on utility-scale wind construction, repower, and other renewable construction opportunities.
- Identify and pursue opportunities with renewable energy developers, asset owners, EPCs, OEMs, and other industry partners.
- Build and maintain a strong pipeline of near-term and long-term construction opportunities.
- Develop a deep understanding of customers' project pipelines, capital plans, construction schedules, procurement strategies, and business priorities.
- Engage customers early in the project lifecycle to position TAKKION as a preferred construction and services partner.
- Track renewable development activity, upcoming projects, market trends, competitor activity, and other factors affecting the construction market.
- Manage opportunities from initial identification and qualification through proposal development, negotiation, and contract award.
- Partner with Construction Services leadership, estimating, operations, finance, legal, and other teams to develop competitive and executable solutions.
- Support bid strategy, customer positioning, proposals, presentations, pricing discussions, and contract negotiations.
- Maintain visibility into opportunity status, timing, probability, value, and next steps.
- Expand existing relationships by identifying opportunities to connect customers with TAKKION's broader renewable energy capabilities.
- Represent TAKKION at customer meetings, industry conferences, project sites, and networking events.

Requirements
Education & Experience Requirements
- 5+ years of business development, commercial, sales, or related experience within the renewable energy industry.
- Direct experience supporting business development or commercial activities for utility-scale wind construction.
- Experience with new-build wind construction and/or wind repower projects strongly preferred.
- Experience with utility-scale solar and/or BESS construction is a plus.
- Strong understanding of renewable construction project lifecycles, customers, contracting structures, and competitive dynamics.
- Established relationships with renewable energy developers, asset owners, EPCs, OEMs, or other major industry participants strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated success developing customer relationships, identifying opportunities, building commercial pipelines, and contributing to contract awards.
- Experience with proposals, commercial strategy, contract negotiations, and deal closings.
- Ability to understand construction scope, schedule, project risk, and commercial requirements and translate them into customer solutions.
- Strong business and financial acumen.
- Excellent communication, presentation, relationship-building, and negotiation skills.
- Self-directed, collaborative, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred. Equivalent directly relevant industry experience will be considered.
- Valid driver's license.
Travel & Work Environment
This position requires significant interaction with customers and TAKKION operations nationwide. Travel of up to 75% should be expected and may include customer offices, industry events, renewable construction projects, and operational sites.
Project-site visits may involve walking on uneven terrain, exposure to varying weather conditions, and use of required personal protective equipment. The position may occasionally require lifting or moving up to 50 pounds.
Specific Requirements Include
- Extended periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer or other digital devices.
- Frequent use of hands for typing, writing, and handling office equipment.
- Occasional walking during on-site visits to different areas within the organization.
- Active listening and clear speech are essential for effectively supporting and coaching leaders and employees.
