Company & Role Overview
Our client is an established European payments business specialising in alternative and voucher-based payment solutions, with a strong focus on online merchants and high-risk verticals. Its payment proposition enables customers to pay online without using a traditional bank card, with its solutions already used across areas including iGaming, e-commerce, streaming and lottery. The business operates within a regulated payments environment and has an established European presence.
The company is now looking to expand its commercial presence across Australia and New Zealand (ANZ) and is therefore hiring a Business Development Manager to establish and grow this market. The key objective of the role is to leverage an existing network within the ANZ iGaming ecosystem to identify new opportunities, open conversations with relevant merchants and partners, and ultimately drive new business.
This is a fully remote, permanent B2B position, with flexibility around where the successful candidate is based provided, they can work effectively with the European team. The role offers a strong, uncapped commission structure designed for a high-performing salesperson to potentially double their base salary or more, depending on performance against targets.
Responsibilities
- business development strategy across Australia and New Zealand, with a particular focus on the iGaming market.
- Leverage an existing network of iGaming operators, merchants, platforms, PSPs, aggregators and other relevant stakeholders across ANZ.
- Identify and develop new commercial opportunities within the high-risk payments and iGaming ecosystem.
- Build relationships with senior decision-makers across prospective clients and partners.
- Generate and manage a consistent pipeline of new business opportunities.
- Own the sales cycle from initial prospecting and relationship development through to commercial negotiation and onboarding.
- Introduce the company's payment solutions to relevant iGaming and high-risk merchants.
- Develop new partnerships and strategic commercial relationships across the region.
- Work closely with internal teams including Product, Payments, Compliance, Operations and Management to support the onboarding of new clients.
- Monitor the ANZ market, identifying emerging opportunities, competitors, payment trends and potential strategic partnerships.
- Take ownership of revenue and business development targets across the territory.
- Represent the company at relevant iGaming, payments and industry events where appropriate.
Knowledge & Experience
- Proven experience within iGaming, online gambling, sportsbook or casino environments.
- Strong understanding of the Australian and/or New Zealand iGaming market.
- An established and demonstrable ANZ network of relevant commercial contacts.
- Proven track record in Business Development, Sales, Partnerships or Commercial roles.
- Experience selling into or working directly with iGaming operators, merchants, PSPs, payment providers, platforms or aggregators.
- Strong understanding of the payment's ecosystem is highly desirable.
- Experience within high-risk payments is advantageous.
- Exposure to alternative payment methods, acquiring, payment gateways, wallets, vouchers or payment orchestration would be beneficial.
- Proven ability to generate new business rather than purely manage existing accounts.
- Experience working against revenue and sales targets.
- Comfortable working independently within a remote, international environment.
- Strong understanding of the commercial dynamics and challenges associated with the iGaming/high-risk payments sector.
Mandatory Skills & Requirements
Must have:
- Existing network within Australia and/or New Zealand's iGaming market.
- Direct iGaming experience - this is non-negotiable.
- Proven hunter-style Business Development/Sales experience.
- Demonstrable history of winning new business and opening new relationships.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills at senior level.
- Ability to operate autonomously and build a territory from the ground up.
- Commercially driven and comfortable working towards challenging revenue targets.
- Willingness to work on a B2B contract basis
- Ability to work remotely while maintaining sufficient overlap with the European team.
