In order to accelerate our growth, we are seeking a seasoned Business Development Director — Travel Insurance, a strategic leader with deep industry connections and a proven track record of expanding travel insurance offerings across key European Countries such as Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Netherlands.
IMPORTANT: This is a full-remote job, the candidate shall be based in one of these target countries.
What you’ll be doing:
·Develop and execute strategies to ensure broad distribution of our innovative travel insurance products across key European Countries.
·Build and strengthen relationships with travel insurance distribution partners, identifying new prospects and channels for growth.
·Lead business development initiatives by creating innovative insurance solutions aligned with industry trends, regulatory changes, and customer needs.
·Drive prospecting efforts, including social media and modern selling techniques, to increase market visibility and generate new leads.
·Collaborate closely with the internal teams to tailor commercial approaches and ensure alignment with strategic goals.
·Manage the end-to-end process of negotiations, proposals, and contracts, ensuring profitable and compliant agreements.
·Support cross-functional collaboration with underwriting, operations, and technology teams to maximise cross-selling opportunities and strategic deals.
·Monitor market dynamics and competitive landscape to maintain a distinctive advantage and identify new business opportunities.
What you'll bring:
·Minimum of 10 years’ experience in commercial and digital sales within the travel insurance industry, with strong knowledge of the key European markets and an extensive network among C-level decision makers of TOs, OTAs, GDS and other digital travel aggregators.
·Proven success in building large travel insurance programs and establishing distribution channels.
·Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills, with the ability to articulate complex solutions clearly.
·English is the language of work. A good knowledge (B1/C1) of further languages such as French,German and Italian is a strong plus.
·Persuasive, persistent, and personable, with a strong drive to achieve and maximize sales opportunities.
·Self-motivated, structured, and resourceful, capable of independently prospecting and closing new business.
·Deep understanding of insurance products, financial models, digital distribution platforms, and data-driven marketing strategies.
·Knowledge of medical evacuation/assistance and familiarity with regulatory environments relevant to travel insurance is a plus.
·Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; licensed insurance producer in life, health, and P&C preferred.
