CERN's ABP Group, through the LNO section, seeks a software-oriented physicist/engineer to advance beam optics measurements and corrections for the HL-LHC. You will develop advanced software and GUIs, extend the OMC framework, and contribute to modeling, automation, and commissioning procedures.

The role requires Python expertise, GUI development, and collaboration in a fast-paced accelerator environment with strong teamwork and communication skills. Hybrid work is supported.

Competenze

• Master's degree with 2 to 6 years post-graduation professional experience.
• PhD with no more than 3 years post-graduation professional experience.
• Background in Physics or Software Engineering (or related field).
• You are a CERN Member or Associate Member State national.

Mansioni

• Maintain and extend the core OMC framework and toolset used during LHC commissioning and operation.
• Explore software solutions to improve optics measurement and corrections in the LHC.
• Update accelerator model creation and correction algorithms to use new simulation tools.
• Explore automation for key measurement workflows and implement where possible.
• Develop new GUIs and analysis tools for the CERN Control Centre during optics commissioning.
• Participate in and contribute to the analysis of optics measurements in the CERN accelerators.
