CERN is seeking a Software Developer to upgrade the CMS data acquisition system for the High-Luminosity LHC. You will design and develop software for FPGA-based electronics platforms to configure, control and monitor the TCDS in collaboration with engineers and physicists.

You will contribute to requirements, documentation, and participate in system tests toward deploying the production system by 2028, with a 24‑month contract and 40 hours per week, hybrid working, and opportunities for

Qualifikationen

• Proficiency in Python and C++ including REST interfaces.
• Experience with system programming and hardware interaction.
• Experience with collaborative software development and CI/CD practices.
• Familiarity with VHDL or Verilog firmware development is a plus.
• Exposure to data acquisition systems in modern HEP experiments is a plus.

Aufgaben

• Develop software to configure, control, and monitor the TCDS system in collaboration with hardware components.
• Set up and operate DAQ test systems to validate design parts.
• Maintain and improve code repositories and CI/CD infrastructure.
• Assist in installation and commissioning of Phase-2 DAQ system (2027–2029).
• Support CMS community during commissioning of sub-detector data acquisition components.
