The UN Secretariat in Geneva invites applications for an Associate Programme Officer to support trade and investment policy projects within ITC. You will help design, implement, monitor, and evaluate initiatives, liaising with clients and partners to ensure timely progress.

The role covers research, policy coordination, workshop facilitation, data collection on field missions, and preparation of analytical notes and reports.

Qualifikationen

  • Advanced university degree in business administration, management, economics, or related field.
  • Alternatively, first-level degree with two additional years of relevant experience.
  • Minimum two years of relevant experience in project/programme management; four years with first-level degree.
  • Experience in trade and investment policy and implementing technical assistance projects is desirable.
  • Experience developing project proposals.
  • Strong analytical and evaluative skills; ability to design budgets and intervention plans.
  • Languages: English and French.

Aufgaben

  • Assist clients in the development, implementation, and evaluation of trade and investment policy projects.
  • Monitor and analyze project development and implementation, review documents, identify issues, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Liaise with relevant parties and track follow-up actions.
  • Provide support for policy coordination and evaluation, including analyzing emerging trends and participating in research.
  • Assist with consulting assignments by planning workshops and developing action plans.
  • Support survey initiatives, design regulatory reviews, analyze responses, and prepare preliminary conclusions.
  • Contribute to written outputs such as background papers, analytical notes, and reports.
  • Provide administrative and substantive support for workshops, trainings, and meetings.
  • Participate in field missions for data collection and support.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Organizational context

The International Trade Centre (ITC) aims to transform trade and change lives by enabling trade-led economic development, particularly in the Global South. This role is within the Division of Market Development (DMD), Strategies and Policy for Trade and Investment (SPTI) Section, which supports business organizations in shaping trade and investment policies and regulatory frameworks. The position focuses on supporting the development, implementation, and monitoring of designated projects.

Job purpose

This Associate Programme Officer role supports the development, implementation, and monitoring of designated trade and investment policy-related projects within the International Trade Centre (ITC). The incumbent will assist key clients in project lifecycle management, including development, implementation, and evaluation. Responsibilities include monitoring project progress, analyzing specific aspects, reviewing documents, identifying issues, and recommending solutions. The role also involves supporting policy coordination, conducting research, assisting with consulting assignments, facilitating workshops, and contributing to various written outputs. Additionally, the position provides administrative and substantive support for meetings and participates in field missions for data collection and support.

Education

An advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in business administration, management, economics, or a related field is required. A first-level degree in a similar field, combined with two additional years of relevant professional experience, may be accepted.

Work experience

A minimum of two years of relevant experience in project/programme management is required. This requirement increases to four years for candidates with a first-level degree. Experience in trade and investment policy is desirable, as is experience in implementing technical assistance projects and developing project proposals.
