Zusammenfassung

The International Trade Centre (ITC) seeks an Associate Programme Officer to support programmes strengthening BSOs and their ecosystems, monitor progress, and liaise with stakeholders to drive SDGs 8 and 16.

Under supervision, you will contribute to workshops, client action plans, written outputs, and field missions, providing administrative and substantive support for meetings and outreach activities.

Qualifikationen

  • An advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in business administration, management, economics, organizational development, or international relations is required.
  • Alternatively, a first-level university degree with two additional years of relevant experience may be accepted.
  • A minimum of two years of relevant experience in project/programme management, administration, or a related field is required (four years if holding a first-level degree).
  • Desirable experience includes advising public/private sector economic actors globally, working with developing economies, supporting BSOs and their ecosystems, and incorporating gender perspectives into BSO work.

Aufgaben

  • Facilitate the development, implementation, and evaluation of assigned programmes and projects, monitoring progress, analyzing specific aspects, and identifying issues for corrective action.
  • Liaise with relevant parties and track follow-up actions.
  • Assist in consulting assignments by planning and facilitating workshops and developing client action plans.
  • Contribute to the preparation of various written outputs, including background papers, analytical notes, reports, and publications.
  • Support the development and maintenance of institutional networks, sharing best practices.
  • Provide administrative and substantive support for meetings and conferences, including agenda preparation, participant identification, and logistics.
  • Undertake outreach activities, participate in and present at training workshops and seminars.
  • Participate in field missions, providing support and collecting data.
  • Coordinate budget-related activities, including project preparation, submissions, and financial reporting.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Organizational context: The International Trade Centre (ITC) aims to transform trade and change lives by enabling trade-led economic development, particularly in the Global South. The Institutions and Ecosystems Section (IE) within the Division of Enterprise Competitiveness and Institutions (DECI) supports business support organizations (BSOs) in developing countries. High-performing institutions amplify ITC's project reach and impact, fostering local capacity for lasting change.

Job purpose: This role supports the International Trade Centre's (ITC) mission to transform trade and empower small businesses, especially in the Global South. The Associate Programme Officer, under supervision, will facilitate the development, implementation, and evaluation of programmes and projects focused on strengthening business support organizations (BSOs) and their ecosystems. Key contributions include monitoring project progress, identifying issues, recommending solutions, and liaising with stakeholders. The role also involves assisting with consulting assignments, developing action plans for clients, preparing written outputs, supporting institutional networks, and coordinating administrative and substantive support for meetings and outreach activities. This position directly contributes to Sustainable Development Goals 8 and 16, and indirectly to several other SDGs.
