The Bank for International Settlements (BIS) is seeking an Assistant Treasury Dealer to join our Treasury team.

This role is based in Basel, Switzerland; however, thanks to our status as an international organization, we can hire globally and welcome applications from candidates of all nationalities and locations. Relocation support is available for the successful candidate and their dependent family members.

Purpose of the role:

The Bank for International Settlements’ mission is to support central banks' pursuit of monetary and financial stability through international partnership and to act as a bank for central banks.

In this role, you will play a key part in supporting the Bank’s Treasury operations by executing trades efficiently and contributing to market analysis that informs strategic decision-making. You will work with a diverse team of professionals to ensure trading activities are aligned with the Bank’s investment policies and risk framework while contributing to the seamless functioning of the Front Office.

Principal accountabilities:

  • Trade execution and support: Accurately and efficiently book and execute trades across a range of financial instruments, ensuring adherence to best market practices and BIS Risk Framework standards.
  • Market analysis and research: Monitor and evaluate market trends, economic indicators, fiscal and monetary policies, and investment bank research to identify risks and opportunities.
  • Reporting: Assist Treasury Dealers in preparing reports, presentations, and documentation to support decision-making and trading strategies.
  • Compliance and process adherence: Work to strict processes and protocols, ensuring conformity with the BIS Risk Framework, the Bank’s investment policies, and compliance standards.
  • Process documentation: check Documentation to ensure trading is in line with BIS Banking rules.
  • System support and improvement: Assist with the development, configuration, testing, and maintenance of Front Office tools and applications.

Qualifications, skills, and experience:

  • A university degree in economics, finance, business, or a related field, or equivalent banking experience.
  • Foundational knowledge of banking business practices and investment products, including fixed income, equity markets, swaps, and money market instruments in major financial markets.
  • Strong analytical thinking, sound judgment, and a proactive approach to problem-solving and decision-making.
  • Team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills; comfortable engaging with staff at all levels.
  • Ability to manage a variety of tasks, working methodically and accurately under pressure and tight deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills, including excellent command of spoken and written English.
  • Up to two years of experience in a financial institution or comparable, relevant experience acquired through internships.
